General Notes: Husband - John Wright

He was a native of Ireland, came to America in early life, and located in New Jersey, where he probably taught school until the opening of the war of the Revolution. He held the position of a quartermaster in the New Jersey troops during the struggle for independence, and at the close of the conflict settled at Paterson, in that state. From there he removed to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, about the year 1797, and opened, on the 10th of August of that year, "an English school in the German school-house." On the removal of John Wyeth as postmaster by President Adams in 1798, Maj. Wright was appointed to that office. This he took charge of in connection with his school, holding the office until his death.

General Notes: Wife - Rose Chambers

On the death of her husband, she succeeded to the post-office, which she retained until her death.
