General Notes: Husband - James Leander Stright

After attending Sheakleyville, Pennsylvania, High School for three years he worked for the Erie railroad from Aug. 11, 1920, until Aug. 10, 1969, when he retired after 49 years service. During that time he served as fireman for 20 years and as engineer for 29 years. When he retired he was the engineer on the No. 1 Erie passenger train be­tween New York and Chicago and made the last run on this train on Jan. 6, 1969, after which it was discontinued.
Six years after marriage they built a home on a five acre tract on the Conneaut Lake Road west of Mead­ville where they lived thereafter.
He was a Mason for over 30 years with the 32nd degree in the New Castle Consistory. He was active in the Shrine. For eight years he served as local chairman and general secretary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Conneaut Lake and served several terms on its Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Vernon Grange (#936) and was active in many community organiza­tions.
