He came from England with Roger Williams and settled in Rhode Island, being one of the pioneers of that province. It is probable that he was one of those who accompanied Roger Williams thither when the latter was forced to leave Boston on account of his so-called heretical opinions.

It is speculative to list him as the father of James. The same source gives different information. [GPHAV, 544] & [GPHAV, 922]
