Titusville, Crawford Co, PA

He acquired his elementary and preparatory education in the public schools of Titusville, being graduated from the high school. After this he attended the Allegheny College, at Meadville, Pennsylvania, from which he was graduated in 1865. He then took up the study of law in the office of Alexander Miller, an attorney of Pittsburgh, and at the end of three years, in 1868, was admitted as an attorney to the bar of Pittsburgh.

He began the study of law at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, with Alexander Miller in 1865. He was admitted to the bar in that city in 1868. In 1873 he was appointed United States Commissioner, and he held the office for over twenty-five years. He was City Solicitor of Titus-ville ten years. He practiced law in Titusville for over thirty years. He practiced in all the courts of Pennsylvania, and in all the courts of the United States. His office was on the second floor of the Chase & Stewart Block, fronting on Spring Street.
