General Notes: Husband - Dr. James Loyal Christie

He attended the common schools in Center Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania; later Witherspoon Institute, at Butler and then Grove City Academy, the latter being the nucleus of the later Grove City College. He then entered upon the study of medicine and pursued his reading under the direction of Dr. A. M. Neyman, of Butler, and from his preceptorship went to the Western Reserve Medical College at Cleveland, Ohio, and was graduated in the spring of 1877, at the Miami Medical College at Cincinnati. He found an opening for practice at Connoquenessing and in 1888 he opened a drug store, where he made up prescriptions, and in addition to carrying the stock usually found in establishments of the kind, also handled paints. In his political views he was a Republican, served as auditor and for twelve years was a member of the School Board. He was vice president of the Connoquenessing Telephone Company, of which he was one of the organizers.
