General Notes: Husband - John A. Christy


He learned the drug business in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania. In the autumn of 1859 he came to Franklin, and in the spring of 1860, took a contract for putting down some wells for the Cannonsburg Oil Company. He entered the army in July, 1861, as a member of Morehead Cavalry of Pittsburgh. He was taken prisoner at the second Bull Run battle. Owing to several disabilities, he was discharged February 17th, 1863. He purchased his brother's drug store in Oil City in 1862, and continued the business for many years. He was burned out in the great fire of July 28th, 1868.
