General Notes: Husband - A. M. Clawson

He was reared in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and enlisted in Company A, One Hundred and Thirty-ninth Volunteer Infantry Regiment, as a private soldier. He was disabled from service in 1863, in the autumn of which year he was placed in the invalid corps and served there until the close of the war, receiving an honorable discharge in the month of June, 1865. He held a membership with the Grand Army of the Republic, Mercer Post, No. 169. After his return from the scenes of the Rebellion, Mr. Clawson followed farming up to 1871, when he was elected on the Republican ticket as treasurer of Mercer County, serving one term. The next few years after that he was engaged in the mercantile business at Mercer, but in 1904 retired and became a justice of the peace.
Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Clawson, and all were still living in 1909. In church connections they were Methodists.
