He attended the public schools of Worth Township, Mercer County, PA, and Grove City College, taught three years in the schools of Lake and Sandy Lake townships, and two years in the Sandy Lake high school. In 1891 he graduated from the Homoeopathic Medical College of Cleveland, Ohio, and in the spring of 1891 located in Fredonia, PA, where he began a practice. He was a member of the Mercer County Medical Society. He belonged to the K. of P. fraternity of Greenville, I. O. O. F. of New Hamburg, Hebron Lodge No. 575, F. & A. M., of Mercer, Mound Chapter 212, Mount Calvary Commandery No. 67 of Greenville, and Zem Zem Temple of Erie. In national politics he was a Democrat, but at local elections was an independent regardless of party ties. He and his wife attended services at the Methodist church in Fredonia. [HMC 1909, 843]
