General Notes: Husband - Thomas C. Cochran

He received a common-school education, and in 1851 formed a mercantile connection with T. K. Cochran, but after five years severed it and became the senior member of the firm of Cochran and Robinson, which continued until 1879 (with an interruption of four years, during which Mr. Cochran engaged in farming), when the business passed entirely into the hands of Mr. Robinson. Mr. Cochran again returned to agriculture, following the same until he was appointed assignee of Mr. Robinson's estate in 1884. Mr. Cochran formed a partnership with Messrs. Minnis and Thompson and they purchased the business. This partnership continued and a prosperous business was conducted many years. He was an active member and an elder of the United Presbyterian Church. In politics he was a firm Republican, serving as school director for about fifteen years and in other responsible public positions. In 1884 he served as a delegate to the national Republican convention which assembled at Chicago. [HMC 1909, 693]
