The following act of the Connecticut assembly, May, 1763, is recorded: "This assembly do establish Mr. Nathan Cogswell to be lieutenant of the second company or train band of the town of Preston." Again, in 1778, as follows: "To be ensign of the 10th company or train band in the 21st regiment in this state." From records of the State of Connecticut, volume 2, page 31.
