General Notes: Husband - John Lias

He was born in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, and came to Armstrong County in 1831 with his father. He was a blacksmith by trade, and found ready employment in the new home, and also farmed, operating the property later owned by his grandsons, J. F. C. and G. W. Lias. A useful man in his district, he served as justice of the peace, and was well known and most highly respected. After the formation of the Republican party he espoused its principles, and voted its ticket until his death. For many years he was a consistent member of the Methodist Church.

One source states that his wife was Martha Coleman [HAC 1914, 527], another source states that it was Susanna Coleman [HIC 1913, 1212].

General Notes: Wife - Susanna Coleman

There is confusion in the sources regarding this woman and her sister Martha. [HIC 1880, 486] states that Martha was married to John Lias and Susan to Andrew Rankin.
