General Notes: Husband - William Coleman

He enlisted as scout on the frontier when only about fifteen years old. He had a good gun which was wanted for the service, and he preferred going with his gun.

It is said that in the times of the early settlement, he made fourteen trips across the Allegheny mountains, carrying skins of deer and other animals, east on horseback, and carried salt in same manner, on return trip.
