General Notes: Husband - Capt. John Moore


He came from Maryland and settled in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, owning lands in what are now Redstone and German townships. From March 17, 1769, into the early twentieth century the farm was in the family. At first, while he was prospecting, he lived in a hut, devoting himself to hunting and prospecting, and for six weeks saw no human being. He became a prominent character in the early history, and served in the revolution, with a good record, and received the rank of captain
