General Notes: Husband - James Simpson

A native of Ireland, he emigrated to Delaware in 1768, and was in the Revolutionary war. In 1783, with two others, he made a tour of the western country with a view to the purchase of land. He settled first in Chartiers township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, between Pigeon Creek and Chartiers Creek. On the 10th of April, 1797, he purchased fifty acres of land of George Stephenson, adjoining Hugh Patton, John Woods, George Stephenson, and Francis Andrew. It was part of two tracts on the head-waters of southwest fork of Chartiers Creek, one of which was called "Hillsbury," the other "Walnut Bottom."

Besides the four sons listed, there were four daughters, who all married and removed to Ohio.
