West Sunbury, Butler Co, PA
He was reared on the farm, first attended the district schools and had a diploma from the same. He later attended West Sunbury Academy, and as a young man taught school for three years. During that time his father moved to West Sunbury, and the following fall the Phoenix Mill was erected, replacing an old mill which had been destroyed by fire some three years before.
