General Notes: Wife - June Taft Lusher

A friend wrote to the compiler: "I had the pleasure of working with June when I was a teenager on my first job out of high school at Security Pacific National Bank in Riverside, California, in 1959. Her boys were young then, but I see not much younger than I was at the time. June was one of the nicest, brightest women I've ever known. She was always going to write a book, but I never knew if she did or not, because after I'd worked with her for about three years she and her husband, Lt. Col. Charles E. Conway were deployed to Spain with the Air Force. We corresponded, but I lost track of her once they were back in the States.
"She was about 5'5" tall, slim, with strawberry blonde hair, and had freckles and was always fashionable. She often spoke of being raised in Escondido, California, about 60 miles south of Riverside. I believe I remember June mentioning that she had attended USC and may have met "Connie," her husband there. She had an inquiring mind and was very interested in people \endash you felt when you talked to her like you had her rapt attention. In addition to formal education, being married to Connie took her to many different places in the world \endash Spain twice that I know of, and Japan. I was a girl of 17 when I met her, so you can imagine the impact she had on me. I thought she knew everything. As I mentioned, we met at Security Pacific National Bank, where she was an executive secretary to the Senior Vice President who was in charge of about 30 branches in the Inland Empire area of Southern California. She was very difficult to replace when Connie's new assignment took her away."
