He, with his wife and family, immigrated from Donegal County, Ireland, to the United States, in 1771. In the last decade of the eighteenth cen­tury they settled in Concord township, Butler County, on a tract of 400 acres of wild land, situated on Bear Creek. Here they spent the remaining years of their lives, leaving to their children the fruits of their industry.
