General Notes: Husband - Christopher Walthour

His father came from Germany about 1682-83, and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

He came to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and in 1764, he purchased from John Rodebaugh a mill site and erected a grist mill in the confluence of Bushy run and Brush creek, in what became Manor borough. Afterwards he erected a larger mill to meet the demands of growing trade, which was still standing in 1918 and was then owned by an heir of Samuel Walthour, his great-grandson.

Old Fort Walthour was a block house built on Walthour land by the surrounding neighbors for temporary safety. The fort was located one and one-half miles west of Adamsburg and figured quite prominently in the early history of the area.
