He was one of the pioneers of Pine Grove, Warren County, Pennsylvania, having come there in 1827 with his wife and five children. He went to Venango County after a residence in Warren County of but four years, and he died there.

He came to Russellburg in 1827, kept a public house there for many years, and in 1839 moved to Limestone.

He was born in Vermont, in 1776; was a lumberman and hotelkeeper in that state, settled in Northeast, Erie County, Pennsylvania, where he was a large landowner and successful farmer. He died about 1858. [GPHNP, 365]
