General Notes: Husband - Joseph Collins Greer, Jr.

At nine years of age his family removed to Lumber City, Pennsylvania, where he attended the academy founded by his father for several years and then came to the old Greer homestead in Westmoreland County, which he farmed for six years. At the end of this time he removed to Murrysville, where he followed teaming for one year, then was in the livery business for two years, after which he removed to Claridge and purchased a half-interest in a store at that place. In nine months he purchased his partner's interest and after that conducted a very successful mercantile business at Claridge.

He was one of the organizers of the Peoples' National Bank, at Jeannette, Pennsylvania, and its first president. He was appointed postmaster at Claridge, March 1, 1889, and performed the duties pertaining to that office up to 1893, and from 1899 for several more years. He was a member and ruling elder of the Murrysville United Presbyterian church. He was a Republican in politics.
