General Notes: Husband - John Agnew, Sr.

He, with at least two sons, James F. and John #2, came to Richland Township, Venango County, about 1823. They settled along Richey Run about two miles above its mouth at the Allegheny River at Emlenton. Today, when traveling west on Interstate 80 at the east exit to Emlenton, one can see Richey Run which is along the north side of the highway. Just below the exit is Panther Spring. This seems to be the place where John Agnew, Sr., settled, built his house, and then built a woolen mill, as well as the same location where the Agnew Post Office was later lo-cated.

The name of his wife was possibly Rebecca Smith.
