General Notes: Husband - Rev. John Holmes Agnew, D.D.


He was graduated at Dickinson College and at the Princeton Theological Seminary. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Carlisle, in 1827. He was pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Uniontown for a brief period, and was afterward Professor of Languages in Washington College, Pa.; the Reformed Institution at York; in Marion College, Mo.; in Newark College, Del.; and the University of Michigan. Later he conducted the Maplewood Female Seminary, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and was editor of the "Eclectic Magazine" and the "Biblical Repertory." He received the degree of D. D. from Washington College in 1852.
