General Notes: Husband - Hon. James P. Aiken

He received a good education, and followed school teaching and farming. He was a justice of the peace for three terms, but resigned this position to accept a seat as associate judge of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, to which office he was elected in the autumn of 1876. He was associate judge for two terms, and also served many years as a member of the school board.
On the day on which he was twenty-one, he cast his first vote on the old Whig ticket. When the Republican party was organized, he identified himself with it, and was always a firm adherent to its principles.
He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church.
