General Notes: Husband - John G. Rutherford


He received a common school education; in 1858 he came to Sligo, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and hauled the first lumber and stone used in building the first house at that place. On August 15, 1862, he enlisted in Company H, One Hundred and Fifty-fifth Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, but he was discharged on account of disability in the following March; at the end of the Civil War he served for four months more, having been drafted. He was a Republican, and his religion was the Presbyterian.
