General Notes: Husband - William M. Frew

Reared to the duties of a farmer boy, he had opportunity to gain only a limited education at the common schools. In February, 1864, he enlisted in Company E, One Hundred and Eighty-eighth Pennsylvania infantry regiment, to do service in the Union cause during the latter years of the Civil war. He was in the service of his country twenty-two months. Upon returning home after his military service he, in 1866, engaged in merchandising at Princeton, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, where he continued in trade four years, and in 1870 went to Grove City, Mercer County. At one time he had the only store in the town, which was then known as "Pine Grove." His store then, was situated on the east side of Wolf Creek, on Main Street, where the center of the town was at that day. In addition to the general merchandising done at that point, Mr. Frew was the senior member of the dry goods firm of William M. Frew & Co., on Broad Street, which business was established in March, 1900. Mr. Frew cast his vote with the Democratic party. In his religious convictions, he was of the United Presbyterian faith. He was counted among the honorable members of Marion Craig Post No. 325, Grand Army of the Republic.

He and his wife had five daughters and three sons.
