General Notes: Husband - Joseph White

He was a Westmoreland man, who pitched his tent within the boundaries of Muddy Creek township, Butler County, PA, as early as 1809. He purchased a tract of land of 200 acres from one Mrs. Elliott. Very little of it was cleared, and as a necessary consequence, much labor had to be expended upon it before it was suitable for cultivation.

His mother dying when he was quite young, he was thrown upon his own resources in early boyhood. He grew to manhood in Allegheny County, PA, and early in the 1800s came to Butler County and purchased 200 acres of land from a Mrs. Elliot, in Muddy Creek township. He resided upon this land, clearing and improving it, until his death. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, serving in Captain Martin's company, of Butler county. Politically, he was a Democrat, and filled the offices of school director and supervisor.

Besides the children listed, there were four that died in infancy.
