General Notes: Husband - Thomas O. Cratty

He departed somewhat from the family custom of farming, being a lawyer, and held various public offices. He was born in the old brick house in Franklin Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, attended the Dick School, later the Prospect Academy and Slippery Rock State Normal School, after which he taught in the public schools, later graduating from the Law Department of the Ohio Northern University, from which he obtained his degree of Bachelor of Laws in the class of 1904. As city solicitor in East San Diego, California, and as a member of the City Council, he contributed to the progress and upbuilding of that rapidly growing city.
In 1915 he returned to Pennsylvania and from that time lived in Butler. In addition to his general law practice, he specialized in real estate law and land titles. He was the local representative of the Federal Land Bank of Baltimore, and attorney for the Butler County National Farm Loan Association. Mr. Cratty also found time to take some part in Republican politics, representing Butler County in the State Legislature for 1921 and 1922. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
