General Notes: Husband - Perry Wescott

He led an adventuresome life in the pioneer times of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. While a young boy, cutting timber in the woods, he was captured by the Indians, who, during the year of his captivity, trained him in all the secrets of woodscraft. He finally eluded his captors, escaped to a creek, which he crossed on a hollow tree trunk, using his improvised boat as a hiding place until his pursuers had disappeared. The boy finally reached his home in safety, served his country in the War of 1812, lived an honored life and died widely lamented.
