General Notes: Husband - Alexander McKinstry


He and his wife were natives of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, met and married near Apollo, Pennsylvania, where they resided until 1841. They then removed to Jefferson County, and, after spending four years on a farm in Oliver township, located permanently at the site of Coolspring. Alexander McKinstry was reared by his grandfather McKinstry, and secured a good education for his time. In early manhood he taught school in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, and, for more than twenty years in later life, he held the office of justice of the peace. He was also for a time one of the commissioners of Jefferson County. By occupation he was a farmer and lumberman.

He had two children with his first wife and four with the second.
