General Notes: Husband - Hugh Evans

He was a native of Wales, who, when a young man, worked his way as a sailor across the ocean. He came to what is now Brush Valley township in Indiana County, Pennslyvania, in the latter part of the 1700s. In the beginning of the nineteenth century he erected a stone mill on Brush creek, about three-fourths of a mile south of what later became Mechanicsburg.
