General Notes: Husband - Thomas Welsh

He was born in Ireland and came with his parents to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when about eight years old. He was reared in that city, and was nineteen years of age when his father located in Butler County. He erected a saw mill in 1830, on Thorn creek, near Jefferson Centre, and continued in the lumber business in connection with agriculture until his death.

He was eight years old when he accompanied his father from Ireland, and on the death of the latter he became the head of the family. He accumulated an ample fortune and took a prominent part in public affairs in township and county and served in many offices, including one term as county commissioner. He was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Butler. [TCHBC, 1117]
