He came to the United States with his father when a young man, and settled in Cranberry township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
He married and settled on a farm in Cranberry township, Butler County, later moved to Connoquenessing township, and died there.
He and his wife had eight children; five still living in 1895.

He and his wife had four sons and three daughters.
