General Notes: Husband - John Scott

He represented the district [in central Pennsylvania] in the 21st Congress.

A Scotch-Irishman, he came to Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, about 1812, carrying his shoemaker's tools in a kit on his back, working first, as was the custom, round among the farmers. In the course of a few years he established a shop at the village, and later carried on a tannery there, which stood at the rear of what was later the Phillips block.
