General Notes: Husband - Hamilton Davis

He passed his youth on the family farm, receiving his education in the common schools. He was an ardent and profound student, and always took an active part in the political and religious questions of the day.
He was for many years engaged in buying stock from different parts of the country, a business in which he was successful. In political life he was an earnest advocate of Republican principles, although he never accepted official positions, and in religion was for many years a trustee in the Presbyterian Church at Upper Buffalo.

He devoted the greater part of his life to agriculture, and at his death, he left a farm of sixty acres, on which his father's hotel was located. He also had 108 acres adjoining the home farm of Mrs. Davis. The latter consisted of eighty-eight acres and was the old David Morrow farm. The two former places were sold some years after Mr. Davis' death and the estate divided. Mr. Davis was an early member of the Republican party, and at various times was elected to township office.
