General Notes: Husband - Dr. Amos C. McAlpine, D.D.S.

He came to Pennsylvania when a child. He was educated at Grand Rapids, Michigan, and for a short time taught school in Texas. For several years he had practiced dentistry, but he took the necessary examinations at the Pennsylvania State Board of Dental Examiners in order to meet the requirements under the law creating a state examining board. He was declared fully qualified to practice dentistry, which profession he learned under the tutelage of his father. He immediately resumed his practice in Warren, where he successfully followed his profession.
In politics Dr. McAlpin was an independent Republican, but did not seek political distinction. He was called upon to serve as burgess of Warren in 1893. For some time he was a leading member of the Warren Board of Trade; he was a leader in musical circles, being prominent in connection with both church and operatic music. He was a zealous exponent of Universal Brotherhood, and a leader of Theosophy in Warren.
Dr. McAlpin was interested in the Keystone Glue Company and other industrial enterprises.
His fraternal associations were with North Star Lodge No. 241, F. & A. M., of Warren; Occidental Chapter, R. A. M. No. 235; Warren Commandery No. 63, K. T.; New York City Consistory, S. P. R. S.; Zem Zem Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; and Warren Lodge No. 223, B. P. O. E., of which he was the chartered exalted ruler. He was prominently connected with the Lake Erie Dental Society, and was connected with the Pittsburgh Dental College as a clinician beginning from its organization in 1896.
