He was educated in Mifflin township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, learned no special trade, but engaged at different occupations, and worked about coal-mines thirty-five years, twenty-one years of that time as mine boss. He has distinguished himself as a practical and scientific man, and was very successful.
He was a member of the M. E. Church, and was a republican. He built one of the first business-houses in Homestead.
