He was reared on a farm, and devoted his life to agri­cultural pursuits, and owned a well-improved farm on which he resided.
He and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he was Class leader and Trustee. He held various offices of trust, such as Auditor, etc. In politics he was Republican.
