General Notes: Husband - Ninian Irwin

He was known among the Irwins of Cherrytree, Venango County, PA, (to where he came in 1802) as “The Schoolmaster.”
He was elected to the office of county commissioner in 1805, receiving 210 votes, the largest number polled for any candidate at that election, the first after the organization of the county. He was an accomplished penman. The first schoolhouse in the township was built largely through his efforts, and at different times he taught in the local schools. For a number of years he was a justice of the peace. [CAB, 347]
