General Notes: Husband - Jacob Roberts

Throughout his boyhood, youth and early manhood he resided continuously on the homestead, leaving it only to respond to his country's call. In 1863 he enlisted in Company C (being afterward transferred to Company E), Sixty-first Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served just two years, under the command of Captain O. H. Robertson, of Pittsburgh. He participated in the battles of Rappahannock Station, the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad, Winchester, Fisher's Hill, Cedar Creek, the fall of Petersburg, and the surrender at Appomattox. He received his discharge July 11, 1865, at Baltimore, Maryland. After his return home he resumed his life as a farmer. He served two terms as supervisor of the township. In politics he was a Republican. He was a member of Zion Evangelical church, in which he held the offices of elder, deacon and trustee.
