General Notes: Husband - Amos Alexander

---

He was a man of large affairs in the community. He had been commissioned "one of His Lordship's Justices for Cecil County" (Maryland) by the proprietary and became a member of the Cecil County Court at the first organization of the state government in 1777. His will dated August 26, 1779, and probated May 1, 1780 (Liber CC-3/141) disposes of several mills and plantations near the Big Elk. Pecuniary bequests aggregating 10,500 pounds in addition to realty and provision for his wife, Sarah, indicate that the testator was a man of substantial wealth.

He was a leading elder in the Rock Presbyterian church.
