General Notes: Husband - Thomas McCoy, Sr.

A native of County Tyrone, Ireland, he immigrated to Pennsylvania towards the close of the eighteenth century, and settled in Springfield township, Mercer County. He entered 200 acres of land, which he cleared and improved, and died on his farm. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church. She died some years before her husband, and both were buried in the Stevenson graveyard, in Springfield township, Mercer County.

He was born in County Tyrone, Ireland. Coming to America when young, he located, prior to the year 1800, in what is now Springfield Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, here securing a tract of timbered land, close to the site of London. He built a log cabin in the midst of the wilderness, and lived there awhile. Purchasing then a timbered tract a short distance farther west, he cleared and improved a homestead, erected substantial buildings, and was there employed in tilling the soil until his death, at a ripe old age.
