General Notes: Husband - David Gillespie DeWoody

Franklin, Venango Co, PA

He was named for his grandfather David Gillespie. David served his apprenticeship under the tutelage of prosperous blacksmith W. J. Cassiday in Sugarcreek Township, Venango County. He was a councilman at Franklin in 1862. From 1877 until he retired in 1898 he was an engineer at Aultman, Miller & Co., also known as the Buckeye Mower & Reaper Works, Akron, Ohio. They manufactured mowers, reapers, and twine binders.


Notes: Marriage

David and Jane separated before 1877, when he was living at 216 E. Market and she resided at 441 E. Center, Akron, Ohio. By 1879 David was rooming at the residence of Jonathan Crubaugh, Tallmadge Avenue, while Jane, who never remarried, continued to live at 441 E. Center until she died. [DR, 36]
