General Notes: Husband - Rev. Mungo Dick

A clergyman of the Associate Reformed Church.
He came from Dundee, Scotland, about 1800, and settled on Sewickley Creek, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was for many years stationed pastor at Brush Creek, Mount Pleasant, and Sewickley Churches. About 1829 he quit preaching at Mount Pleasant, in 1832 he retired from Bethel (Brush Creek), and in 1836 from Sewickley.

The emigrant and ancestor of the family in America, was a man of a strong will and great intellectual powers, and for over a third of a century expounded the gospel with great success.

He was born at a place called Moray Firth, received his education at Edinburg and was licensed as a minister in the Associate Reformed church. Leaving Scotland in 1804 he immigrated to America, locating in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he was settled in 1806 over the congregations of Sewickley, Mt. Pleasant and New Alexandria. In 1808 he purchased a farm in Sewickley township on which he lived until his death in 1849. Politically he was a whig but never exercised the right of suffrage. He was a man of fine education and an able theologian, and during 1831-2 students from the Theological seminary at Allegheny City received instruction from him at his home. He left the impress of his strong mind on three flourishing congregations over which he zealously administered with ability and piety. [BHCWC, 561]
