General Notes: Husband - Joseph P. Dickey

Educated in the common schools, in 1866, at the age of eighteen years, he went to Colorado, where he spent several years in mining and merchandising. In 1873 he returned to Greenville, Pennsylvania and engaged in the hardware trade with his brothers, Samuel C. and Robert, this business having been established by their father in 1845. In the month of February, 1898, the brother Samuel died, and in February, 1907, Mr. Dickey lost his brother Robert. He then conducted the store alone, under the old firm name of Dickey Brothers.
Joseph P. Dickey voted with the Republican party, and served as a member of the borough council from 1890 to 1893. He belonged to Eureka Lodge No. 290, F. & A. M., and was past master of his lodge. He also held membership in Chapter No. 212, Royal Arch Masons, and was past high priest. He was advanced in the fraternity to the Commandery, being a faithful member of Calvary Commandery No. 67, Knights Templar, of which he was eminent commander. He was a member of Zem Zem Temple at Erie, Pennsylvania, and Custer Lodge No. 469, Knights of Pythias, and was also a member of the P. H. C.
