General Notes: Husband - James Beatty Alexander

Intended by his parents for the ministry, he prepared for college at Tuscarora Academy, but turned aside to merchandizing at Reedsville, Pennsylvania. In 1847 he enlisted, and fought bravely under General Scott in the Mexican war, from Vera Cruz to the City of Mexico. After the war he located lands in Iowa.
In 1857 he removed to Ohio, and thence, in 1865, to Albany, New York, and finally to Spout Spring, Appomatox County, Virginia, where he engaged in farming.
