General Notes: Husband - William Dixon


He was born in County Armagh, Ireland, and he and his wife came to America just six months prior to the birth of their son, James L. William Dixon purchased 400 acres of land in Butler County, Pennsylvania. For many years he served in the office of justice of the peace and was the most important man in his community.

He was a man of good education, and lived in Pittsburgh for many years, returning to Butler County in 1819, and settling on a portion of the land purchased by Thomas Dixon. After coming to Butler County he taught school for many years, and filled the office of justice of the peace for a long period. He and his wife were the parents of nine children, and spent their lives upon the homestead farm.
