General Notes: Husband - James Dodds

---

He received a common-school education, working on the home farm during his younger years. He resided on the home farm in Independence township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, for some time after his marriage; then he farmed two years in Brooke County, West Virginia, and afterward lived in Independence for seven years, where he was dealing in stock. In 1859 he purchased the "home farm," upon which he then resided. Mr. Dodds traveled a great deal. In politics he was an active Republican, and held various township offices.
