General Notes: Husband - John S. Alexander


He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In early life with his father he crossed the Alleghenies by the old State road and came to Pittsburgh, where he learned the trade of chair-making. After residing at different places he removed in 1847 to Apollo, where he embarked and continued in the mercantile business for many years. He was a consistent member of the Baptist church, and from 1860 he supported the republican party, having previously voted the democratic ticket.

He and his wife had six sons and two daughters.
