She was born in Council Bluffs, IA; moved to Arkansas with her family when about twelve and spent her teen-age years in Eureka Springs. When about nineteen years of age she moved back to Council Bluffs and lived with her grandmother Adele Donaldson. She took some Kindergarten training and worked briefly as her grandmother's assistant. She later joined her parents in Ontario, California. Here she attended Chaffey College for one semester. She met and later married Jesse A. Stryker. Her husband was a radio technician and they ran a business in Ontario for many years. He husband died and she, a number of years later, remarried and her name became McKinley. She and her 2nd husband divorced after about eight years of marriage. She died a year later. Bethine, as she was always called, ironically, died within a few hours of her brother Bill. Their illnesses were unrelated.
