General Notes: Husband - Zachariah Eddy

In 1801, he left Pittsford, Vermont, where his parents were then living, and went to Warren County, Pennsylvania, residing for a number of years in Pine Grove township. About 1819 he removed to Warren, where he lived until his death.

He came to Warren, Pennsylvania, as a surveyor and was interested in lumber. He amassed a great deal of the land in what became Warren proper, owning a number of entire town squares. He owned the present "Beaty flats." On one instance when the hay was just ready to be hauled to the barns, he insisted that his sons, Isaac and James, should load it and bring it in on Sunday, thinking the prospect of rain warranted the rather unusual act. His sons had so much reverence for the Sabbath that they protested. Finally they went to the flats and loaded; but strange to say, as they were fording the creek, the hay wagon tipped and the hay floated down the water. Judging from the delight his son Isaac got in telling this story in later years, the "tipping over" is not hard to account for. He also owned thirty acres below the depot at the West End. He divided his property during the later years of his life among his six children. In politics he upheld the Democratic party. During the War of 1812 he fought against the English. He was for a number of years pointed out on the town streets as "the oldest man in Warren." He was remarkable for his mental and physical activity up to the time of his death. He had eight children, two died young, six grew up and married in Warren and vicinity.
